Volunteering in Special Needs Program

Safari Overview

The Special Needs program in Tanzania is a great way for compassionate and caring individuals to support disabled children across the country. Everyone is welcome to participate, those with medical or professional backgrounds in Special Needs care are especially welcome.

Volunteering in Special Needs program often includes assisting professionals in the centre, or even working directly with children of special needs. This includes socializing, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and teaching basic education. Cleaning and maintenance of facilities may also be tasks that would be given to volunteers during their placements. As a volunteer, you will be expected to work alongside children who have learning disabilities, are deaf or mute, have physical disabilities, or have down’s syndrome, autism, or cerebral palsy.

It is encouraged to volunteer in Special Needs programs as Tanzania currently lacks adequate facilities and materials necessary to provide the appropriate education and treatment of various Special Needs cases. They also face a range of other difficulties that have a significant impact, such as lack of trained staff, a negative cultural perception towards disabilities, and lack of access to.

Once you arrive, our Kim Foundation representative will escort you to your hostel | homestay. She/He will help you with check-in to the house and you will take some rest.

Wake up to a fresh morning and enjoy breakfast. Spend the final part of the day at city tour. You could go for some last-minute shopping and buy souvenirs for yourself, family and friends. After this, get transferred to the Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport or Julius Nyerere International Airport for your flight back home. Hope you had an amazing volunteered full of amazing sightseeing and experiences.

There i.e. the possibility for program extension whenever necessary. A one day extension cost 50 USD, Where as more than a week would be assigned program fees in regard to the duration of the stay. It advised that if volunteers require an extension they should provide a week's notice prior the end of their original program.
