Safari Overview

Marangu route is the oldest route and often considered the easiest. It is nicknamed the “Coca Cola” route, as it is popular and attracts a larger number of climbers than other routes. It approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast and passes through beautiful rainforest and moorlands. The ascent on this route is constant and moderate, and the trekking is relatively relaxed compared to sections of other routes. This is a good bet for those concerned about their fitness.

DAY 1

MOUNT KILIMANJARO NATIONAL PARK

Leave Moshi town about 08:00am and drive to about 45 minutes to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 10:00 am. Hike through rain forest from the park gate (1,800 m) to Mandara Hut (2,800 m), taking about 4 – 5 hours. Stop half way for lunch. Reach Mandara Huts at about 02.00 pm. After short tour at the hut and start coming down to Marangu gate

The Tour Price Includes

  • Lunch box / Hot lunch
  • Filtered water throughout the trek.
  • Transportation to & from the mountain gate.
  • Professional mountain guides, cooks and porters.
  • All Park fees, Rescue fees, Guide & Porters fees, and 18% VAT on tour fees and service which cost nearly 100% of the total cost.
  • Fair wages for the mountain crew as approved by the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority (KINAPA), Kilimanjaro Association of Tour Operators (KIATO).

The Tour Price Excludes

  • Meals not listed above.
  • Flights (international and domestic).
  • Tanzania Visa cost which is 50% except for Canadian and USA passport holders which is US$100.
  • Pick up and drop off at Kilimanjaro International Airport can be arranged upon request at an extra cost.
  • Optional Tours (short safari/tour after your climb can be arranged  upon request at an extra cost).
  • Portable flush toilet with a toilet tent is extra (US$100 per toilet + toilet tent)
  • Mountain gears (can be rented, please ask us at the time of the booking).
  • Accommodation in Arusha/Moshi. If you wish, we can however assist you in finding a place that corresponds to your needs and budget.
  • Tips for the crew. We recommend a tip of 25 USD per day for your guide to be divided between each member of your group.
  • Inoculations and personal insurance (e.g. Tanzania Visa, Travel, Medical and Baggage insurance, A doctor for the group, Laundry, Souvenirs, Telephone, Beverages (available to purchase) and all other services that are not mentioned as included.
  • Holiday Surcharge : A supplement of US $ 40.00 per day will apply to all bookings on the 24th, 25th, 26th and 31 December and 1st January
  • A supplement of US $ 35.00 per day will apply to all bookings between Friday 3rd and Monday 6th April (for all 4 days) as Easter holiday surcharge.).
